The city
recently installed these bike racks all over the city where you can swipe a
credit card and rent out a bike for hours, even returning them to different
racks all around the city.
One nice
thing is that the bikes have bright lights installed in them that automatically
go on when it’s dark out, so anyone who rents them is very visible at night.
On the
other hand, though, the people who rent them never have helmets and most often
seem to be tourists, so they ride all over the sidewalk and on the wrong side
of trails, and it’s just a disaster waiting to happen.
How can
the city say that everyone should wear helmets, and then make a program that
encourages people to rent bikes without them?
