Also, the last
time I was picking up trash in the park, as I went to throw a bag out, this
(middle-aged) happy-looking (Chinese) woman holding the hand of a small child
cried out to me, “Thank you so much for doing that!” in accented English.
I then made
smalltalk about how nice the park was, and why not pick up trash if you were
walking around in it.
Secretly, I was
thinking how nice it was to see a Chinese immigrant display American values.
