Kitchen mishap:

The other week I was getting a plastic bottle of mustard out of the side rack on my fridge door, to squirt a bit into a bowl to eat with some pretzels, and as soon as I removed it, this long glass bottle of (good) (thick) (Polish) mustard slid down and shattered its bottom on the floor, scattering glass everywhere.

I thought for a brief second of trying to scrape out some of the mustard on the inside because it was large and thick and apparently undamaged, it was like this big placid glob hanging down from the middle of the jar, but who knows, the glass chips might have been forced up into it, and you don't f*ck with that, you could eat some of them and be bleeding internally or whatnot.

Anyhow, I had gotten that mustard on my last trip to the city that I used to live in...  I had gotten together with my one (Romanian) colleague and my one friend who does film stuff, and we sat out on the beach and drank beer and my (Romanian) colleague had brought kebabs he had grilled up, along with that mustard, not to mention some pickled vegetables and some warm sauerkraut and some warm shredded beets that he had picked up at a (Polish) restaurant as part of like a schnitzel special that he likes to get sometimes.

As always, he was exceptionally generous, and sent me home with a tupperware of some leftover food, as well as that jar of mustard, which I had my doubts about -- why would you buy a huge jar of specialty mustard? --but I have to admit was quite good.

Cooking find:

The other week when I was making vegetable curry and I was pulling out potatoes from the cupboard where I keep them, I could smell mildew like from around some of the roots where they'd sprouted, but as I pulled out one potato,  I could see that a portion of it had gone rotten.

And, as I held it out over the sink to see if I could cut off that part and save some of it, I can see on the surface that it's moving at the moist parts, from all of these little white worms.

So, I put the sink water on blast, and I washed them off before checking the potato and deciding to throw all of it away.

Diet change.

Now that summer's over, I've stopped living on watermelon and vegetables and pasta, and have started varying my lunch and dinner diet again, like the other week I made a big pot of vegetable curry to eat with rice.

This summer with the farmers market, I really didn't even make rice and beans like I usually do, though every once in a while I'd make rice to eat with soy sauce, for variety.

It's like I've started to make heavier foods again, for fall.

Joyride.

The other week, I was taking an unusually early late afternoon walk in the lake park that's just north of where I live now, and as I was coming back from there and coming out of the edge of the park, I see a (younger side) (happy) (black) woman in (dark) (royal blue) scrubs coming rather quickly down the sidewalk on a rental electric bike, and so I step off the sidewalk until she passes, only she doesn't pass, she veers off onto the grass like ten feet ahead of me, keeping going rapidly all the while, even as it's clear that her bike is starting to get interference and is slowing down.

And, as her path bends away from me, I can that has this enormous ass and it's just hanging off each side of the saddle, and it's jiggling in rhythm as her bike goes over the different bumps in the park's lawn, like parallel jiggles on each side in unpredictable intervals, as she goes over each of the bumps in turn.

Like, a big ass, and big jiggles, just enormous, where they would catch anyone's eyes, and you didn't even have to be looking.

My new routine:

On my evening walks lately by the lake part, I always make sure to look for turtles.

And, I usually can see some, even if the sun's gone down and it's one just hanging out just below the surface out in the middle of the water somewhere.

Observations on a farmers market stand.

At the one stand where I buy tomatoes, and where the (white) women there wear slightly dirty t-shirts and have slouchy tits, I've noticed one (later middle-aged) (Asian?) woman who looks good for her age, who seems to be doing stuff a lot in the background.

The other day, she was like to them, "Did you get to try some of the curry I made?"

I wonder if she's a war-bride or something, to the (older) (white) guy who I sometimes see around there.

Season change.

All my adult life, all summer long I binge on watermelon, and I usually have one large one in my fridge at all times.

But, never fail, at some point in like early September or so, I just don't feel like eating it any more, since it just doesn't match the season.

Like, even if the days are warm, the nights are getting cool, and it just doesn't fit into my day like it used to even a few weeks before.
