Observations of Jesus: Straight male friends.

When I was out at a friend's 30th b-day party get-together the other weekend, I ran into Jesus and the Catalan at a bar, and we ended up talking for quite a while.

Jesus was saying that though he knows a lot of Americans, he doesn't have American friends. With women, sex gets in the way, and American men are incapable of friendship, he says.

"You can't talk with them about your problems," he was like, "Or call them up if you need a favor or someone to help you out."

(- which, reminded me of what my one friend with the cat said after she dated the Catalan; she said he was always talking about his emotions and the state of the relationship, and in that way he was kind of like a woman, although culturally it wasn't that way to him.)

"Look at them," he was like, sweeping his hand, "Those poor WASP fuckers. They cannot talk to each other. There is a reason everyone here is on Prozac. No one can depend on each other."

He also said that things were different from American gay men, from what he can see, because many can have such relationships with their (platonic) gay friends, or with women.
