The surrealness of current atrocities.

The intentional child abuse of the forced child-parent separations is as disturbing as it is surreal.

Whenever I've caught glimpses of TV, the part about tearing immigrant children away from their parents and housing them in vacant big box stores where they're drugged up seems almost surreal, like we're not really here, but are in some dystopian movie set in the near future that makes its points and sets its setting through broad brushstroke newsclips seen briefly in the background as the characters engage their daily lives, prior to them jolting out of it and getting sucked into events.
