“Enchilada”
is a feminine singular past participle, the ‘en-chilied’ feminine singular
thing.
I
realized this the other week when I was browsing the dairy aisle at the store
near my house, and was looking at a bunch of hispanic (mostly Mexican) cheeses,
and one with a bright red rind had written on the packaging, “QUESO ENCHILADO”.
