A few months ago, I was glassing up some Thai iced teas at the one (Thai) restaurant where I work now, when the (Thai) (husband) owner walked by and saw what I was doing and said to put more ice in the glasses.
(I always go light on ice, since one of those is $4 and I don't want customers to feel like we're skimping them.)
Later, I mention this to my one (chubby) (Thai) coworker, and she just gives me this serious look, and she's like, "You know why he said that, don't you?".
And, she said that because of the tariffs, a lot of prices were going up, like a batch of Thai iced tea ingredients was going up from $30 to $50, and they were doing everything they could to economize and cut down on costs and not pass them along to the customers.
"So, maybe put half ice," she was like.
